THE FULL HISTORY OF NAVAL 8 - 208 SQUADRON
1916 TO 1966

The following pages contain the first fifty years of the Squadron from its formation as Naval 8 in the First World War to its 50th Anniversary at Muharraq in Bahrain.

The story is told by Douglas Marr then a Flight Lieutenant serving on the squadron and flying the Hunter FGA9.

The task to compile the history was given Douglas as a secondary duty by the then Squadron Commander  Squadron Leader Tony Chaplin.
Most of the work was done in Douglas’s spare time and considerable credit goes to him for an excellent job.
Some credit should also go to Tony Chaplin for having the foresight to select Douglas for the task: Tony would probably have said  “At least it kept him out of the bar!

The webmaster wished to thank Douglas for his agreement to allow this book to be made available to Members of the Association
