Navigating a road journey across Crete under enemy fire, for instance, could have been quite beyond anyone less inspired or resourceful. Then, hitching a ride with the Prince of Greece could easily have been very difficult for lesser men.
Group Captain Meadows, as a former Commanding Officer of No 208 Squadron and the current Webmaster of the Naval 8/208 Squadron Association Web site, has been able to illustrate this version superbly using material from Sid's daughter, Jilly, from family members of colleagues who served with Sid, and from the Archives of No 208 Squadron and the Association.
