They were all working to keep the spirit going. So, the whole object was to develop what the Association had got, which was a fantastic spirit, and to continue with it in whatever format the Committee elected to do.

To conclude, the President thanked everyone for their support, and for coming. He thanked Eugene Moriarty once again for the organisation, which had been terrific.

However, before repairing to the Bar, the President made a final vote of thanks to Malcolm Brown, who had spent 17 years looking after the Association as Secretary. That was seventeen years from the day when he had fallen asleep in one of the President’s debriefings (and he had a picture of that). Since that moment, when he had woken him up, they had had a marvellous relationship, and he had tried to resign for the past eight years, but the President had made the agreement that “You can resign when I resign.” Well, eventually, it would seem that Helena had persuaded him to move on. So, the President thanked him, personally, for all the time he had have put in, and everything he had done.

The President then proposed one last toast before everyone retired to the Bar for more stories: perhaps a couple more about Kersfeld?
