El Alamein - 75th Anniversary

On the night of 23-24 October 1942, Montgomery launched his famous attack on Rommel’s Afrika Corps, in what became known as the Battle of El-Alamein. The Naval Eight / 208 Squadron Association is indebted to his widow, Betty Wood, for a collection of photographs from his time with the Squadron. The Last Piston-Engined Air Combat

22 May 2018 marks the 70th anniversary of the world’s last piston-engined air combat, in which Spitfires of 208 Squadron shot down 4 Egyptian Spitfires that had attacked their base at Ramat David (a fifth was shot down by RAF Regiment Bren gunners.
